Here’s what to keep in mind:

• Use a suitable twin needle.
• Select on the touchscreen the appropriate needle width and stitch plate. This will automatically limit the stitch width and help prevent the needles from hitting the plate.
• Thread two upper threads – one on the left and one on the right side of the tension disc – so that each needle has its own thread feed.

With the twin needle function, the b79 opens up even more creative possibilities – from beautiful hems to decorative highlights.

Yes, absolutely. You can easily import your own embroidery designs directly to the b79 using the built-in USB port – no need for additional software.

The b79 is compatible with many common embroidery file formats. You can load and use designs in the following formats: EXP, PES, DST, PEC, JEF, VP3, VIP, HUS and ZHS. In most cases, there’s no need to convert files before you start stitching.

The native file format for the b79 is the BERNINA EXP format, which includes three related files:

• An .exp file containing the actual stitch data
• A .bmp file with a preview of the design
• An .inf file with color information.

If the .inf file is missing, the design will still display – but possibly in standard colors rather than the intended color scheme.

Once your files are saved on the USB stick, you can easily load them onto the machine and start embroidering right away.

The programmable Foot Control on the b79 allows you to operate key machine functions even more efficiently using the pedal – especially handy when you need both hands on your fabric.

By default, the function “needle up/down” is activated. A quick press with your heel lifts or lowers the needle – ideal for turning corners or placing stitches with extra precision. 

You can also assign other functions to the heel press: 

• Automatic securing (backstitching): Activate this feature, and the b79 will automatically secure your seam. The number of stitches can be adjusted individually.
• Automatic thread cutter: With a heel press, the machine cuts the upper and lower threads – no need to lift a finger
• Presser foot position: The presser foot is raised or lowered via the heel press. 

The programmable Foot Control is your smart sewing assistant. Whether it’s thread cutting, securing seams or adjusting needle position – you’re in full control with just one heel press.
